THE 10 BEST GAMES TO SEE IN OHIO - WEEK 10 By Kyle Holsinger Well, we made it to the last week of the regular season, and I’m interested to see who plays who in the playoffs when the Ohio High School Athletic Association announces it on Sunday. There has been some top notch football […]
Welcome back for Heart of Ohio Sports’ third season of The 10 Best Games to See in Ohio.
Based off of feedback from last season, I’m focusing more this season on trying to find games that will be close in score more than ‘premier matchups’. It’s a hard task because you can’t predict the future, but I’m going to give it my best.
Midway through last season, I began to feature a game from each district as an honorable mention selection. The Northwest district’s top pick is featured in our local games so I will add an additional game to the honorable mention due to that this week. That same precedent will continue if and when it happens again.
I can’t wait to get back on the sidelines and watch some football.
We are 50 days out from the kickoff of the 2026 OHSAA high school football season, and I’m back with a ‘way too early’ preview of the local landscape. The first game in the area will be Leipsic traveling to Heidelberg University’s Hoernemann Stadium to face Calvert on Thursday, August 20.
The 2025-26 school year is coming to a close, and congratulations to every graduate.
Over here at Heart of Ohio Sports, the crew has began to get restless for next fall to arrive. If you’re like us and have an early hankering for high school football then here’s a preview of 25-plus local players to look out for on the gridiron come August.
Welcome back everyone! Thanks again to Drew Pasteur's Fantastic 50, Joe Eitel, MaxPreps, 247sports, OhioHSHelmts, and many others who make this article possible. Thanks to Nate Mullins of Heart of Ohio Sports for allowing me a platform to write this article each week. Finally, thank YOU for reading. I'm considering doing a playoff edition next week, but we'll see who all gets in locally.
I want to thank ohiohshelmets.com for the work that they do over there. Without their hard work, these articles wouldn’t have the great graphics that I make every week for these matchups. So thank you.
Another great week of tough matchups to choose from.
Kickoff of the first games of the 2025 OHSAA high school football season are 50 days away from today. Locally, the first games will be Calvert visiting Mohawk, Colonel Crawford traveling to Milford Center to face Fairbanks, and River Valley at Elgin on Thursday evening, Aug. 21. All of those games are set for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
HOPEWELL-LOUDON 27, GIBSONBURG 14 By Kyle Holsinger BASCOM — Hopewell-Loudon was up by six points late in the fourth quarter against Gibsonburg in their Sandusky Bay Conference, River Division opener. The Chieftains needed only a couple of first downs, and they could’ve ran out the clock. On a fourth-and-one, Braylon Martinez took a handoff up […]
