I read your comments and tweaked the analytics a bit. Now, the metrics are 40% competitiveness, 20% rankings, 20% combined wins, and 20% college prospects. I personally think watching some D-I prospects balling out makes for a great game—even if the game doesn’t end up close. If games ending with slim point differential is your preference then I’ll give y’all what you want. Enjoy!
My apologies for getting this article out a few hours later than usual. The first three weeks of the season, I use some metrics from last season’s teams until enough data has built up to properly judge this year’s version of each respective school’s team. Starting this week, that switches and there’s a lot of work that goes into that switch. That being said, next week may come out on Tuesday as well, but then it will be back to the regular Monday publishing.
We’re already to week three of the season, and we’ve seen some great football so far. I wanted to let the reader know that over the last couple seasons that I’ve wrestled with how to properly rank out-of-state opponents for matchups. I’ve also wrestled with ranking them in the top five of the state or just keeping them as honorable mention.
