
The 10 Best Games to See in Ohio - Week 10

Thanks to Nate Mullins of Heart of Ohio Sports for allowing me a platform to write this article each week. Finally, thank YOU for reading. I'm considering doing a playoff edition next week, but we'll see who all gets in locally.
The Five Best Games to See in the Area

When: Fri., Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Last Week: The Tigers beat Bucyrus at home, 62-14; and Mohawk won at Carey in overtime, 29-28.
Previous Meeting: Oct. 25, 2024; Mohawk was victorious at SE, 21-13.
Intrigue: Northern 10 Athletic Conference showdown with Mohawk tied for first with Colonel Crawford (8-1) and Carey (5-4) at 5-1 in the conference with Seneca East one game back at fourth place.
Seneca East’s Nicholas Parks is 96-for-173 passing for 1,496 yards, 15 touchdowns, and seven interceptions along with 534 rushing yards and six more TDs this season. His top target is Ethan Shultz—who has 23 receptions for 310 yards and three TDs. Jaron Depinet has 14 catches for 370 yards and four TDs. Running back Jackson Gayheart has 99 carries for 590 rushing yards and six rushing TDs plus 15 catches for 173 yards and a receiving TD.
Defensively, Gayheart leads the Tigers in tackles with 83 as well as 26 TFL and seven sacks. Elijah Cline has 43 tackles, 12 TFL, two sacks, two INTs, and a fumble recovery. Parks has 25 tackles, two TFL, and two picks.
Mohawk’s Andon Clouse has completed 77-of-118 passes for 1,449 yards, 16 TDs, and two INTs with 753 rushing yards and 10 TDs this year. Brant Kirian and Levi Tiell are Clouse’s favorite receivers with Kirian making 32 catches for 530 yards and six TDs; and Tiell having 23 receptions for 657 yards and seven TDs. Kaden Bish has 103 rushes for 1,040 yards and 17 TDs.
On defense, the Warriors’ Owen Patrizi has 104 tackles, 5.5 TFL, two forced fumbles, one sack, and a fumble recovery. Bish has 37 tackles, 19.5 TFL, four sacks, and two forced fumbles. Clouse has 30 tackles, three INTs, and 1.5 TFL.

When: Fri., Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Last Week: The Sailors lost to Milan Edison at home, 27-24; and Bellevue was victorious at Port Clinton, 12-3.
Previous Meeting: Oct. 25, 2024; Vermilion defeated Bellevue at home, 26-12.
Intrigue: Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division matchup with Bellevue tied for first with Milan Edison at 2-1, and Vermilion sitting one game back along with Port Clinton and Huron.
Vermilion’s Evan Kuhns has 155 carries for 1,505 rushing yards and 17 TDs in 2025. Quarterback Drake Hooks is 61-of-128 passing for 894 yards, seven TDs, and eight picks with three rushing TDs also. Hooks’ favorite target is Brock Meyers—who has 23 catches, 468 receiving yards, and three TDs.
The Sailors defense is led by Daniel Roy with 90 tackles, four sacks, and an INT. Aiden Kyser has made 65 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two INTs, and two forced fumbles and recoveries. James Bengele has 69 tackles, one INT, and one forced fumble.
Bellevue’s Ike Brown has thrown 95-of-198 passing for 1,097 yards, nine TDs, and six picks as well as rushing for 351 yards and five TDs on the year. Three other rushers have at least 240 rushing yards for BHS: Nolan Hartman (342 yards, three TDs) Evan Bova (327, five), and Billy Sberna (242, one). Caden Cramer leads the team in receiving with 37 catches, 544 yards, and six TDs.
The Bellevue defense’s leading tackler is Konner Dauch with 78 along with an INT and forced fumble. Cramer is right behind Dauch with 77 tackles, one sack, one INT, and one forced fumble and recovery. Hartman has 71 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

When: Fri., Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Last Week: The Golden Bears beat Willard at home, 69-7; and the Polar Bears defeated Lakota at home, 38-7.
Previous Meeting: Oct. 18, 2024; Gibsonburg beat Margaretta at home in overtime, 14-7.
Intrigue: SBC RIver Division matchup with Margaretta in first place with a 6-0 division record while Gibsonburg and Hopewell-Loudon are tied for second at 5-1.
Gibsonburg’s Grant Smith has 176 rushing attempts for 1,375 yards and 19 TDs. Reece Walby is 23-for-51 passing for 423 yards, six TDs, and three INTs along with 315 rushing yards and seven TDs. Aiden Morant leads the team with nine catches for 148 receiving yards and two TDs.
Defensively, the Golden Bears are led by Smith with 91.5 tackles and 0.5 sack. Hunter Wasserman has 44 tackles, 6.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. Walby leads the team with four interceptions along with 76.5 tackles, one forced fumble, and 0.5 sack.
Margaretta’s Jake Bouy has completed 45-of-78 passes for 917 yards, nine TDs, three picks, and 345 rushing yards with 10 TDs. Kale Bailey is the top receiver with 19 grabs for 400 yards and four TDs. Judah Keller has 101 rushes for 976 yards and 15 TDs.
The Polar Bears defense is led by Keller with 100 tackles and four INTs. Brett Miller has 88 tackles and 3.5 sacks while Cohen Gahler has 65 tackles and four sacks. Carter Luzader has 57 tackles and three INTs.

When: Fri., Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Last Week: The Generals lost at Perrysburg, 24-3; and the Trojans defeated Sylvania Northview at home, 42-7.
Previous Meeting: Oct. 4, 2024; Anthony Wayne defeated Findlay at home, 34-25.
Intrigue: Northern Lakes League Buckeye Division matchup with the Buckeye title being decided at the Perrysburg at Whitmer game.
Anthony Wayne sophomore QB Porter Brungard has completed 121-for-193 passes for 1,304 yards, 12 TDs, and eight INTs on the season. Roman Morrison has 105 carries, 625 rushing yards, and six TDs. Cameron Miller is the leading receiver with 38 receptions for 509 yards and eight TDs.
Defensively, the Generals’ Mateo Harmon has a team-leading 76 tackles, six TFL, five sacks, two INTs, a pass deflection, and a fumble recovery this year. Gunnar Hansen has 44 tackles, nine TFL, eight sacks, and a forced fumble and recovery. Senior Eli Donawa has 35 tackles, five INTs, three deflections, a fumble recovery, and a TFL
Findlay’s Miles Bailey was 12-of-23 passing for 166 yards and three TDs in last week’s win over Northview. Bailey also had 13 rushes for 83 yards and a couple more TDs. Hudson Yeager had two receptions for 82 yards and a TD; Carter Imke grabbed five catches for 36 yards and a TD; and Greyson Geiser caught four passes for 44 yards and a TD. Griffin Lane rushed eight times for 40 yards and a TD also.
Defensively, the Trojans gave up 10 first downs, 13 rushing yards, 127 passing yards, 140 total yards, and forced two interceptions in the win a week ago.

When: Fri., Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Last Week: The Colts were victorious at Caledonia River Valley, 44-7; and the Tigers won at Marion Harding, 28-21.
Previous Meeting: Sept. 13, 2024; Galion won at CF, 41-21.
Intrigue: Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference matchup with Shelby leading with a 6-0 conference record, Galion second at 5-1, and Clear Fork third at 4-2.
Clear Fork’s Ben Campbell scored five TDs last week with a four on the ground and one through the air. Campbell had 28 rushing attempts for 203 yards. David Oswalt had five rushes for 111 yards with a rushing and a receiving TD.
Defensively, the Colts’ Campbell also made three TFL, three sacks, and had a forced fumble and recovery. Oswalt had a sack also in the contest. Trey Sellars recorded three tackles and an INT.
Galion’s Ayden Schmidt completed 9-of-20 passes for 98 yards and three TDs, and one INT in last week’s victory. Jacob Chambers made five catches for 62 yards and two TDs. Braxton Stuckman had 22 touches for 93 rushing yards. Kurt Hay also had a 12-yard TD reception in the game.
Defensively last week, the Tigers’ Cameron Kuehlman scored on a 50-yard fumble recovery return.
HONORABLE MENTION: Huron (3-6) @ Milan Edison (6-3); Hopewell-Loudon (8-1) @ Woodmore (7-2); and Perkins (6-3) @ Tiffin Columbian (5-4).
The Five Best Games to See in Ohio

When: Fri., Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Last Week: The Rams had a bye last week but were victorious at Mount Healthy two weeks ago, 34-0; and the Warriors won at St. Vincent-St. Mary, 51-7.
Previous Meeting: Oct. 6, 2000; Walsh won at Trotwood, 42-21.
Intrigue: According to the OPSMA High School Football Notebook - Week 8, Michael Keith had a punt return for a TD, and Armani Rogers scored two TDs in their last game two weeks ago. Rogers had seven receptions for 108 yards. Quarterback Dallas Shehee completed 10-of-15 passes and two TDs.
The Rams’ defense shut the Mt. Healthy offense to 90 yards total in that game.
Walsh’s David Ternosky threw 11-of-16 passes for 127 yards and three TDs last week. Carlos Smith rushed eight times for 107 yards and three TDs.
The Warriors may need this win to get a first round bye in the Region 5 playoffs.

When: Fri., Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Last Week: The Blue Devils beat New Middletown Springfield at home, 7-6; and the Rams won at Berlin Center Western Reserve, 51-20.
Previous Meeting: Oct. 25, 2024; McDonald beat Mineral Ridge at home, 33-14.
Intrigue: Mahoning Valley Conference Scarlet Tier showdown with McDonald the frontrunner in the tier at 6-0, and Mineral Ridge and New Middletown Springfield back a game.
McDonald’s Drew Zajack scored their lone TD on a five-yard rush on the opening drive of the game last week.
The Blue Devils, according to Drew Pasteur’s Fantastic 50, appear to have already clinched a playoff berth and a first round bye.
Mineral Ridge appear to be a lock for the playoffs, but likely need a win this Friday for a first round home game. The Rams lone losses are to an 8-1 Hanoverton United and a 6-3 New Middletown Springfield. They’ve beat two schools who currently have a winning record—6-3 Pymatuning Valley and 5-4 Jackson-Milton.

When: Sat., Oct. 25 at 2 p.m.
Last Week: The Tigers defeated Warren G Harding at home, 42-10; and the Bulldogs won at Massillon Jackson, 40-9.
Previous Meeting: Oct. 26, 2024; Massillon defeated McKinley at home, 16-7.
Intrigue: One of the biggest rivalries in all of high school football.
Massillon’s Anthony McMullen Jr. had 22 carries for 158 yards and a TD in last week’s win. Mandwel Patterson completed 12-of-17 throws for 133 yards with two TDs. His top targets were Deontay Malone and Giorgio Jackson Jr. Malone had three catches, 62 yards, and a TD while Jackson Jr. had six receptions for 61 yards and a TD.
McKinley’s Trent Hayden was 18-for-25 passing for 316 yards and three TDs. DeeJay Britt made nine receptions for 181 yards and a TD, and Darius Hill caught five passes for 114 yards and a TD. Kyelin West had 24 rushes for 108 yards and two TDs a week ago.
The Bulldog defense held Massillon Jackson to just 40 rushing yards and 183 passing yards for 223 total offensive yards last week.

When: Fri., Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Last Week: The Panthers beat New Albany at home, 35-7; and the Golden Lions won at Grove City, 44-20.
Previous Meeting: Oct. 25, 2024; Lincoln were victorious at North, 17-6.
Intrigue: Ohio Capital Conference Ohio Division championship. Both teams are undefeated in divisional play going into the game.
North’s Andyriq Thomas rushed for four TDs in last week’s win. Tyice Warren scored the final TD of the game when he ran it in from 15-yards out.
The Panthers only loss was 24-0 on the road to St. Edward in week one. Their defense has only given up more than seven points twice this season: in the loss to St. Ed and Grove City in a 31-21 win for PNHS.
Lincoln sophomore Leon Cummings had 145 rushing yards and a TD on 13 carries last week. Trey Wilson also went over the 100-yard mark with 132 yards on 10 touches. Grey Kegley threw 15-of-26 passes for 170 yards.
Defensively, the Lions held Grove City to 73 rushing yards a week ago. Cummings returned a fumble on defense for a 55-yard TD as well in the game.

When: Fri., Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.
Last Week: The Eagles beat Archbishop Moeller at home, 35-10; and the Knights defeated York [PA] Central York at home, 46-21.
Previous Meeting: Oct. 26, 2024; Hoban won at St. Edward, 24-21.
Intrigue: St. Edward’s Jonny Evanchick was 8-of-9 passing for 87 yards and a TD in last week’s win. Zach Hackleman was his top target with three catches, 67 yards, and a receiving TD to go with a 16-yard rushing TD, and a 48- and 92-yard TDs on punt returns against Moeller. Brandon White carried the rock 17 times for 98 yards.
Defensively, Collin Crocker scored on a 68-yard fumble recovery. Crocker finished with three tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 1.5 TFL. B.P. Paulozzi made six tackles, 2 TFL, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. Makhi Boone had five tackles and two pass deflections.
Hoban’s Brayton Feister had 12 rushes for 66 yards and a couple TDs to go with a fumble recovery for a score on defense last week. Elbert “Rock” Hill IV scored on a 96-yard kickoff return and a 98-yard pick-six. Payton Cook was 8-for-11 passing for 103 yards and a TD. John Johnson had four receptions for 64 yards and a TD. Jance Henry ran it 15 times for 101 yards.
