SYCAMORE — Mohawk took care of business during their Homecoming game on Friday night at Warrior Field. The Warriors piled it on Buckeye Central, 48-0, in Northern 10 Conference play.

What did Coach Daniels have to say?

“We started fast, just like last week,” Mohawk coach Eric Daniel said. “There’s been no lapse in our effort at practice or attitude. So its encouraging.”

The first quarter...

After forcing the Bucks to punt on the opening drive of the game, Mohawk fed the ball to running back Kaden Bish, who had five carries for 57 yards on the drive, from one-yard out to go up with 7:02 left in the first quarter, 7-0.

On Buckeye Central’s next drive, Jack Phillips left the game with an injury and did not return. He was replaced by senior wideout Alec Phillips, who took snaps for the remainder of the contest for the Bucks.

A short punt out-of-bound gave Mohawk (5-1 overall, 2-1 N10) the ball at midfield. On the first play of the possession, Warrior QB Andon Clouse throw a deep pass right to sophomore receiver Levi Tiell for a 52-yard touchdown pass. Mohawk was up at the end of the first quarter, 14-0.

On the opening play of the second quarter, Bish ran right and crossed the goal line for a 6-yard TD. Another good PAT by sophomore Aden Patrizi gave the Warriors a 21-0 lead just five seconds into the second period.

An unsportsmanlike penalty on the touchdown was enforced on the ensuing kickoff, and Aden Patrizi’s squib kick gave Buckeye Central (3-3, 1-2) their best field position of the game, starting at the Mohawk 39. An incompletion on 4th-and-8 turned the ball over to the Warriors.

The Red & Black wasted no time, dialing up a deep pass down the middle from Clouse to Tiell for 42 yards to get into BC territory.

Two plays later, Clouse threw a 25-yard TD pass to Homecoming King Brant Kirian to put Mohawk ahead with 9:20 to go in the first half, 28-0.

The Warriors’ Aden Patrizi kicked off and a BC returner allowed the ball to roll past, thinking that it would go out-of-bounds; but the ball ended up rolling to the ‘coffin corner’ and had to be recovered quickly by the Buckeye Central at their own two-yard line to prevent Mohawk from regaining possession.

The Warriors’ defense forced a punt, and Levi Tiell returned the ball 23 yards to give their offense a short field at the Bucks’ 9-yard line. Clouse kept it up the middle from a yard out on 4th-and-goal to cap off the drive. The running clock started at 4:54 in the second quarter, and Mohawk went into halftime with a 35-0 lead.

HALFTIME: Mohawk 35, BC 0

The Warriors opened the half with a nine play, 55-yard scoring drive that began with Bish rattling off a 13-yard run followed up by Clouse hitting Kirian for a 13-yard reception on back-to-back plays.

An offsides penalty on Buckeye Central on 4th-and-3 gave Mohawk’s drive new life, and they scored the next play when Owen Patrizi scored on a 6-yard TD run. It was 42-0 in favor of the Warriors with 3:55 left in the third quarter.

A good punt return by Owen Patrizi the Red & Black the ball at their opponents’ 28. Two plays later, Owen took off left for a 12-yard scamper. Aden Patrizi scored on a one-yard blast up the middle. The PAT failed—leaving Mohawk’s lead at 48-0.
