Hopewell-Loudon Stays Perfect as N10 Race Takes Shape
The first month of the 2026 high school football season has already produced a clear headline in the Heart of Ohio Sports coverage area: Hopewell-Loudon remains perfect.
The Chieftains moved to 4-0 with a 30-22 win over Seneca East, while Mohawk improved to 2-0 in Northern 10 Athletic Conference play with a convincing victory at Bucyrus. Those two teams share the early N10 lead with Carey, and Friday brings another round of games that could begin separating contenders from the pack.
Elsewhere, Columbian showed plenty of fight in a shootout with Lima Senior, Calvert continues to search for its first victory, and Seneca East gets an immediate chance to answer its first loss. Here is the full rundown heading into Week 5.
Columbian’s second-half push was not enough to overcome Lima Senior’s explosive offense in a 42-33 loss Friday night. The Tornadoes fell to 2-2 overall; Northern Ohio Conference play has not yet begun.
Masen Seitz powered the Columbian offense with 148 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries. Logan Gooding completed 12 of 28 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown, including a 26-yard scoring connection with Dazarius Russell. Blake Miller led the receiving corps with 75 yards, and Columbian finished with 407 yards of total offense.
The Tornadoes will travel to Huron (0-4) on Friday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Huron High School.

Calvert fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the N10 after a 44-12 loss to Colonel Crawford. The Senecas have faced a demanding opening month, and it doesn't get much easier from here as they still have pending dates with Carey, Hopewell-Loudon, and Mohawk on the schedule. Freshman Niko Marinis has been a bright spot for the Senecas, carrying the ball 16 times for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns while also hauling in 13 receptions for 184 yards.
Friday offers an opportunity to turn their hard work into a win as they travel to Lucas (2-2, 1-1 N10). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Lucas.

Hopewell-Loudon passed its toughest test of the young season, defeating previously unbeaten Seneca East 30-22. The victory lifted the Chieftains to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the N10, tied with Mohawk and Carey atop the conference.
Quarterback Jacoby Ellis has thrown for 691 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions through four games. Brody Brickman has 271 receiving yards and leads the conference with 62 points scored, while Kellen Frankart is right behind him with 60. The production reflects the balance that has carried the Chieftains through a perfect opening month.
Hopewell-Loudon hosts Wynford (2-2, 1-1 N10) on Friday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Bascom.

Mohawk left no doubt at Bucyrus, rolling to a 56-7 victory. The Warriors improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the N10, keeping pace at the top of the league.
Andon Clouse has thrown for 770 yards and 12 touchdowns against only two interceptions. Levi Tiell has been his primary big-play target, collecting 367 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Tiell is also averaging 45.7 yards per kickoff return in the conference’s published statistics.
Mohawk hosts Upper Sandusky (2-2, 1-1 N10) on Friday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Sycamore. Heart of Ohio Sports will carry the game on the Adrenaline Stream.

Seneca East dropped its first game of the season, falling 30-22 to Hopewell-Loudon. The Tigers are now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the N10, but their passing game remains among the league’s most productive.
Branson Robinson has thrown for 900 yards with 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. Jackson Gayheart has added 355 yards on the ground, while Jaron Depinet has 266 receiving yards. That balance gives the Tigers a strong foundation as they try to begin a new winning streak.
Seneca East hosts Willard (2-2, 0-2 N10) on Friday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Attica.

Upper Sandusky at Mohawk: The Warriors are one of three teams still perfect in N10 play, while the Rams bring the conference’s passing-yardage leader, Keegan Dunn, into Sycamore.
Colonel Crawford at Carey: Carey’s ground game is led by conference rushing leader Tripp Phoenix. Colonel Crawford counters with Roen Thew and Parker Weithman in a matchup that could reshape the top half of the N10 table.
Wynford at Hopewell-Loudon: The unbeaten Chieftains must deal with Wynford running back Braylon Wells, who ranks second in the N10 with 534 rushing yards.
Perkins at Bellevue: Bellevue enters at 3-1, but undefeated Perkins provides the Redmen with their strongest test since Week 2.
